COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Malik Cooke and Anthony Gill scored 14 points each to help lead South Carolina to a 62-43 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday night.
Cooke overcame an injury to his left eye during the Gamecocks loss to No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday. He had a deep cut over his left eye and was forced to wear protective goggles against the Lions. The injury did not seem to effect his vision as the senior was active on both ends with four steals, three assists, three rebounds and two blocks in 32 minutes.
The Gamecocks took control late in the first half when the Lions (5-5) went scoreless for more than 9 minutes. South Carolina (5-6) turned a one-point lead into a 12-point advantage until Southeastern Louisiana's Todd Nelson hit a 3 just before halftime to make it 25-16 at the break.
Elgin Bailey led the Lions with 15 points.
