HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) -- Nick Barbour scored 26 points as High Point took a commanding lead over Wofford, then held on for an 87-79 win Wednesday night to snap the Terriers' four-game winning streak.
The Panthers (4-7) jumped out to a 22-4 lead, highlighted by three 3-pointers by Branimir Mikulic, en route to a 40-24 halftime advantage.
With High Point still comfortably ahead 59-43 with 12:46 to play, the Terriers chipped away. Kevin Giltner scored six of his 28 points and Brad Loesing 10 of his 17 on a 19-7 run that made it 66-62 with 6:05 left.
Wofford (7-5) could get no closer. After the Terriers cut a nine-point deficit to five with 57 seconds left, the Panthers hit 8 of 8 free throws. Shay Shine capped High Point's scoring with a steal and layup to finish with 16 points.
High Point had four turnovers, a record since joining Division I in 1999-2000.
