HOUSTON (AP) -- Omar Strong and Lawrence Johnson-Danner scored 11 points apiece and Texas Southern rolled to a 73-39 victory over Southern University Thursday night.
All of Strong's and Johnson-Danner's field goals were 3-pointers as they each made three of the Tigers' six baskets from behind the arc. Ellington added 10 points for Texas Southern (3-11, 2-0 SWAC), which led 32-19 at halftime. Eleven Tigers scored in the game.
Michael Celestin had a game-high 14 points for Southern University (5-10, 1-1). Celestin was 4 for 9 from 3-point range, but his teammates were just 1 for 11 from that distance. The Jaguars shot only 29 percent from the field overall.
