CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Mike Groselle made all 10 of his shots and finished with 25 points to lead The Citadel to a 73-62 Southern Conference victory over Samford on Saturday night.
Cosmo Morabbi added 20 points for The Citadel (4-11, 1-3), including seven during a 15-8 run at the start of the second half that expanded a 36-29 halftime lead to 51-37 with 15:11 to play.
Samford (3-11, 0-3), which lost its fifth straight game, got no closer than nine points after that and trailed by as many as 17 points, 60-43, with 8:03 left after a Groselle three-point play.
The Citadel shot 56.5 percent (26 of 46) in the game, including 6 of 14 on 3-pointers, but was just 55.6 percent (17 of 27) on free throws.
Samford was worse on free throws, making 38.5 percent (5 of 13).
Drew Windler scored 16 points and Will Cook 13 for Samford.
