BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) -- Anthony Raffa scored a career-high 32 points as Coastal Carolina rolled over Gardner-Webb 70-56 Saturday night.
The junior guard, whose previous high was 28 points, scored 24 in the second half, including six baskets in a row during a 14-4 run by the Chanticleers (16-5, 9-2 Big South Conference) that gave them a 44-38 lead with 10:20 remaining.
After trailing 28-24 at halftime, Coastal Carolina made 50 percent of its second-half shots (16 of 32) to 26.5 percent (9 of 34) for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Gardner-Webb made just one field goal in the final 6:51, and that came with 24 seconds left and the Chanticleers leading 70-53.
Until this one, all of the Runnin' Bulldogs Big South games had been decided by six points or fewer.
Chris Gradnigo added 15 points for Coastal Carolina and Kierre Greenwood had 10 assists.
Tashan Newsome led Gardner-Webb with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
