BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Antwaine Wiggins scored a career-high 25 points to lead College of Charleston over Samford 68-52 in a Southern Conference game Monday night.
It was the first win for the Cougars (13-9, 5-6) in two games since Mark Byington became interim coach after Bobby Cremins took a medical leave of absence, and it ended their four-game losing streak.
The Bulldogs (7-14, 4-6) used a 16-4 run to lead 24-22 with 4:57 left in the first half, but Charleston answered with a 16-4 run of its own for a 38-28 halftime lead. Wiggins made three 3-pointers during that run and was 5 of 9 behind the arc in the game.
The Cougars, who have won all 12 of their games with Samford, never led by fewer than eight points in the second half.
Matt Sundberg added 14 points for Charleston.
Tyler Hood and Raijon Kelly scored 11 each for Samford.
