MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Austin McBroom scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half to help Central Michigan break a nine-game losing streak with a 55-52 victory over Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night.

Trey Zeigler had 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocks for the Chippewas (8-17, 3-9 Mid-American), who swept the season series.

Derek Thompson hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead the Eagles (11-15, 6-6), who have lost four of five. Jamell Harris added 10 points.

Central Michigan shot 47 percent (23 of 49) but converted only 3 of 10 free throws. The Chippewas piled up a rebounding advantage of 36-23.

Eastern Michigan, which still leads the MAC Eastern Division, trailed 36-32 before McBroom scored on three consecutive possessions to put the Chippewas ahead 42-32 with 7:53 to go.

The Eagles got no closer than six after that until Thompson's 3-pointer with 2 seconds left.
