For University of Kentucky fans, it was a season of destiny. For University of Kansas fans, it was one of sometimes outsized hope. Monday night's NCAA championship game brought the die-hards and fair-weather backers in both camps out in a sea of blue shirts and jerseys. In the end, the Wildcats' 67-58 victory over the Jayhawks provided plenty of excitement, if not an unexpected outcome. Lexington, Ky., and Lawrence, Kan., were united in rolling out the red carpet for fans, although with a wary eye - and heavy police presence - out in case of postgame trouble. Indeed, Kentucky authorities arrested several dozen people in the first minutes after the game ended and reported couches and one car being set afire. Jayhawks fans, meanwhile, were less rowdy but still stopped traffic along Massachusetts Street in Lawrence after the game, many exclaiming pride in a team that went further than many expected.
