DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Ben Simons scored 25 points and Drake rolled to a win in its season opener Saturday, beating William Jewell 96-66.
Richard Carter added 19 points, hitting on all four of his 3-point attempts, and Joey King scored 12 for the Bulldogs, who made 56 percent of their shots from the field.
Drake led 53-43 with 15 1/2 minutes left, and then went on a 17-2 run to put the game out of reach.
Dillon Deck led the Cardinals with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Ricky Tisdale scored 14 points. William Jewell plays in the Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference.
