YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- Frank Gaines scored 30 points as IPFW survived three overtimes to beat Texas-Pan American 97-94 on Friday night in the Eastern Michigan "Ice Man" Classic in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Gaines was 8 of 23 from the field. Mario Hines, who fouled out in the second overtime, had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin Harden had 12 points, 12 rebounds. Luis Jacobo added 11. Joe Reed had 12 rebounds for the Mastodons (2-1).

Brandon Provost had 28 points, including six 3-pointers, for Texas-Pan American. Aaron Urbanus added 20 points, 10 assists. Justin Leathers had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Broncos (1-3).

The teams traded leads 10 times.

IPFW led at halftime 30-25. At the end of regulation, the score was tied at 62. The overtime ties were 69 and 85.

Gaines has scored at least 20 points in each of his last nine games.
