ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- Behind a double-double from post Alex Kirk, New Mexico pulled away from Portland in the second half Sunday in a 69-54 win.

Kirk finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Lobos (6-0), and Jamal Fenton added 12 in his first start of the season.

Kevin Bailey, who fouled out with 11 minutes remaining, and Korey Thielke each scored 11 to lead the Pilots (2-3).

The teams combined to miss the first 15 3-point attempts before Fenton made one with 1:14 remaining in the first half. The teams combined to go 3 of 29 on 3-pointers for the game.

New Mexico led 30-27 at halftime, but a 10-0 run in the first 2 minutes of the second half extended its lead to 40-27.

Portland was unable to cut the deficit to single digits the rest of the way.
