NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- Wes Cole came off the bench to score all 12 of his points in the second half as Hartford defeated Yale 60-51 in a nonconference game Thursday night.
Nate Sikma also scored all eight of his points for the Hawks (3-3) after halftime. All of them came during a 25-5 run to start the half as Hartford extended a 21-18 lead at the break to a 46-23 advantage with 11:36 left.
The Bulldogs (2-6) whittled the lead to seven points, 49-42, as Hartford scored just three points in the next 8 minutes. But Cole hit a 3-pointer at the 3:30 mark to push the Hawks' lead back to double digits, and he added another trey to make it 55-44 with 1:42 to play.
Hartford shot 55 percent (11 of 20) in the second half to Yale's 36 percent (9 of 25).
Austin Morgan led the Bulldogs with 15 points.
