NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) -- Shamir Davis scored 17 points and five other Northwestern State players scored in double figures to overcome a double-digit, first-half deficit to beat Missouri Valley 95-78 on Saturday.

Jalan West finished with 14 points and nine assists for the Demons (5-3), who have won two straight games. DeQuan Hicks and James Hulbin each had 12 points. Brison White and Gary Stewart had 11 points apiece.

Northwestern State trailed 40-30 when Missouri Valley's Jim Thomas made a layup with 6:43 left in the first half. But the Demons claimed a three-point lead before halftime after West's layup and Hublin's 3-pointer.

Northwestern State continued its surge after intermission, scoring the first seven points of the second half. O.J. Evans' layup with 8:22 left in the game gave the Demons an 85-64 advantage - their largest of the game.

Kevin Stander scored 22 points for Missouri Valley (5-9), an NAIA school.
