HOUSTON (AP) -- Omar Strong scored 27 points and Texas Southern rolled past Alabama State 97-65 Monday night.

All five scorers were in double figures for the Tigers (8-14, 7-2 SWAC), who have won three in a row and seven of their last eight games after opening the season 1-13.

Lawrence Johnson-Danner had 20 points and six assists, Ray Penn contributed 19 points and eight assists and Fred Sturdivant had 13 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots. Aaron Clayborn had 11 points and nine rebounds for Texas Southern, which led by as many as 38 points in the second half.

The Tigers were 16 of 28 from 3-point range, with Johnson-Danner making six and Strong and Penn hitting five each.

Alabama State (6-16, 4-5) led only in the first three minutes of the game. Phillip Crawford led the Hornets with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Joshua Freelove scored 14 points.
