CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Marland Smith hit a school-record-tying nine 3-pointers and scored 29 points as Southeast Missouri defeated Eastern Illinois 77-64 Saturday.

Two days after becoming the school's all-time leader in 3-pointers during a win against SIU Edwardsville, Smith hit 9 of 15 shots from beyond the arc on Saturday. His ninth 3 with 2:55 remaining tied the mark and put the Redhawks (13-13, 5-7 Ohio Valley) ahead 73-57. He had one more chance to break the record, but missed a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left.

Corey Wilford added 17 points for Southeast Missouri, Tyler Stone scored 13, A.J. Jones had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Lucas Nutt had 10 assists.

Alex Austin led Eastern Illinois (7-18, 4-8) with 16 points, and Sherman Blanford had 11.

The Redhawks dominated from the outset, jumping out to an 18-2 lead en route to a 48-23 halftime advantage.
