DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Ray Willis and Stanton Kidd scored 10 points each to lead North Carolina Central to a 51-47 victory over Savannah State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles (20-8, 13-1) shot 47.4 percent from the field (18 of 38) and won the battle on the boards 33-23.

Preston Blackman led Savannah State (17-12, 10-4) with 13 points. The Tigers shot 39.1 percent (18 of 46) in their second consecutive loss.

Savannah State trailed by one at 14-13 on Blackman's 3-pointer with 5:43 left in the first half, but North Carolina Central led 24-19 at halftime.

The Tigers tied it at 40-all on Khiry White's jumper with 4:46 remaining, but Emanuel Chapman made two layups and Willis hit a free throw to push the Eagles to a 47-42 advantage with 28 seconds left. Willis made two foul shots to secure the victory.
