CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) -- Freshman Jamaal Tatum scored 11 of his 19 points during a key first-half run as 24th-ranked Southern Illinois rolled to a 96-76 rout of Drake in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup.
The Salukis extended their overall winning streak to 12 games with their 18th consecutive regular-season conference victory. They have won 25 straight MVC games at SIU Arena.
Southern Illinois (19-2, 13-0 MVC) pulled away by closing the first half with a 27-10 run. Tatum buried three 3-pointers and a layup, capping the first half with a shot from the arc for a 52-29 halftime cushion.
LeMar Owen converted three-point plays on consecutive possession during the spurt and finished with 13 points as the Salukis, who cruised to their ninth straight victory over the Bulldogs.
Darren Brooks reached double figures for the 20th straight game with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting as Southern Illinois shot 51 percent (35-of-69) from the floor, including 11-of-23 from 3-point range.
Sylvester Willis collected 10 points and 10 rebounds and Stetson Hairston had seven, six and seven assists as the Salukis held a 42-32 edge on the glass and recorded a season-high 25 assists.
Lonnie Randolph had 15 points and freshman Nick Grant and Pete Eggers added 12 points apiece for Drake (9-11, 5-7), which shot a respectable 46 percent (25-of-55) from the floor but committed 22 turnovers.
