BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Another season, another Southeastern Conference East title for No. 9 Kentucky.
Gerald Fitch came off the bench to score 23 points as Kentucky handed LSU its fourth straight SEC loss, 70-64.
Kentucky (21-4, 11-3 SEC) clinched its fifth straight SEC East regular season title. The Wildcats have won four straight games overall and 12 of 13 against LSU.
Fitch was 6-of-10 from the field, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. The senior guard tied his career high for 3-pointers made.
Kentucky took its largest lead at 52-41 lead with 9:31 to play. LSU battled back to make it 64-62 on Darrel Mitchell's four-point play with 33 seconds left. Mitchell led the Tigers with 15 points.
But the Wildcats sealed the game by making 6-of-6 free throws in the closing seconds. Kentucky held a 33-29 advantage at the half.
Erik Daniels scored 14 points and Cliff Hawkins added 13 for the Wildcats, who have won or shared the SEC East crown in 10 of the 13 years since the league split into two division in 1991-92.
LSU (17-8, 7-7) played without leading scorer and conference leading rebounder Jaime Lloreda, who missed the contest with a sore left heel and sprained right ankle.
