Austin Peay 65, Belmont 59

CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Austin Peay used the free-throw line to continue their successful stretch at home.

Adrian Henning scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half as Austin Peay stretched its home winning streak to 29 games with a 65-59 victory over Belmont in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Anthony Davis added 13 points for the Governors (22-9), who won their first postseason game since upending Illinois in the NCAA Tournament in 1987. Austin Peay will face George Mason in the first round.

Davis led the charge at the free-throw line, where he made all seven of his attempts. His two foul shots with nine seconds left provided a 63-59 lead.

Overall, the Governors went 23-of-30 at the line, compared to just 2-of-4 for the Bruins.

Adam Mark scored 19 points and Steve Drabyn and Josh Goodwin each had 12 for Belmont (21-9), which was making its first postseason appearance since reaching the 1996 NAIA semifinals.
