ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) -- No. 23 Washington is happy that Nate Robinson returned for his senior season.
Robinson scored six of his 29 points in the final four minutes as Washington posted a tightly-contested 78-71 over Utah in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout.
After leading the Huskies to the NCAA Tournament last season, the 5-9 Robinson declared for the NBA draft, but did not sign with an agent and decided to return to Washington.
Robinson scored 19 points in the first half, lifting Washington (2-0) to a 42-31 advantage after 20 minutes.
But Andrew Bogut scored 17 of his 23 in the second half as Utah (1-1) drew even, 64-64, with 3:57 remaining. Robinson made two baskets around a layup by Bogut to make it 68-66 with 2:37 left.
Fellow senior Brandon Roy took over thereafter, scoring the game's next seven points to give the Huskies a 75-66 advantage with 29 seconds to go.
Roy added 25 for the Huskies, who will play Oklahoma in the second round Saturday.
Bogut also grabbed 12 rebounds to record his second double-double in as many game for the Utes, who will play the High Point in the consolation bracket.
