NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Taquan Dean dominated early to give Louisville the lead over Tulane. Francisco Garcia made sure the Cardinals didn't waste it.
Dean scored 14 of his 19 points in the first 10 minutes and Garcia added 21 as No. 12 Louisville extended its winning streak to seven games with a 105-69 victory over Tulane in a Conference USA game.
Less than a minute in, Dean buried his first 3-pointer to spark a 28-9 run over the first 10 minutes. The junior guard added three more from the arc over that stretch and capped the spurt with a pair of free throws at the 9:53 mark.
Dean had five of the 14 3-pointers for the Cardinals, who have hit 31 from the arc over the last two games.
Garcia, who had seven points during the opening burst, scored 13 points in the first half as the Cardinals (18-3, 6-1 C-USA) jumped to a 50-29 lead.
The Cardinals played smothering defense, limiting the Green Wave to just 34 percent shooting (16-of-47) while forcing 26 turnovers.
Lorrenzo Wade scored 14 points and Larry O'Bannon added 12 for Louisville, which scored a season-high 105 points despite shooting just 41 percent (33-of-80) from the floor.
Juan Palacios and Ellis Myles each had 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Cardinals dominated the Green Wave inside. Louisville outrebounded Tulane, 50-35, and held a 23-12 edge in points in the paint.
Freshman Donnie Stith was the only Tulane (8-11, 2-6) player to score in double figures, posting 19 points.
Stith hit all 14 of his foul shots, setting a single-game school record for most free throws without a miss.
