DES MOINES, Iowa (Ticker) -- Janel McCarville scored 22 points and Shannon Schonrock added 20 to help No. 11 Minnesota defeat Drake, 73-50.

McCarville shot 9-of-15 from the field, pulled down 13 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end, and blocked four shots. It was the second double-double of the season and 18th career for the junior center.

Schonrock converted six of her 10 attempts from 3-point range and handed out three assists for the Golden Gophers (3-0), who finished with 28 points off of 24 turnovers by the Bulldogs.

Lindsay Whalen chipped in with 14 points, four assists and four steals for Minnesota, which led at the half by 23 points.

Jill Martin and Mandy Kappel scored 11 points apiece for Drake (0-2), which surrendered 28 second-chance points to their opponents.
