WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Michael Jordan, an NBA iron man during his prime, could miss his second game in a row, against the Houston Rockets on Thursday night, due to an ailing right knee.

Jordan, who had fluid drained from the knee on Monday and missed Tuesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs, worked a little on his shooting but skipped the heavy work of the Washington Wizards' two-hour practice Wednesday in Houston.

"Michael shot around lightly today, so I'm sure he'll find out how his knee is feeling tomorrow, so there probably won't be a decision until tomorrow," head coach Doug Collins told the Washington Times after the practice.

The 38-year-old Jordan, who returned to NBA action after three years in retirement, had not missed a game because of illness or injury since 1993 when he was starring with the Chicago Bulls.

Courtney Alexander is likely to get his second straight start if Jordan can not play. Alexander scored 16 points in Washington's 103-88 loss to the Spurs.

Jordan hyperextended the knee during the final preseason game against Boston and has struggled with it since. Collins revealed that Jordan has already sat out numerous practices with the Wizards, who have posted a 5-12 record.

"I can't tell you the last time he practiced with us, because physically he just can't do it," Collins told the Times.

Jordan has averaged 24.8 points and almost 38 minutes per game so far this season.
