INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Peja Stojakovic had 13 points to lead eight players in double figures and defending champion Yugoslavia beat Angola 113-63 on Thursday, on the opening day of the World Championships.

Yugoslavia, which has won a record four world titles, took control with a 16-0 run that gave it a 44-16 lead with 4:14 left in the first half. Stojakovic, who plays for the Sacramento Kings, had two 3-pointers in the run.

Yugoslavia, which led 52-23 at halftime, dominated inside against Angola, shooting 64.6 percent (42-for-65) and finishing with a 41-29 rebound advantage led by Vladimir Radmanovic of the Seattle SuperSonics, who had 10.

Stojakovic was 3-for-5 from 3-point range, and Yugoslavia finished 9-for-13 from beyond the arc. Vlade Divac, his teammate at Sacramento, had nine points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes.

Valter Monteiro led Angola with 16 points, while Angelo Victoriano added 14. Angola was 23-for-69 (33.3 percent) from the field, including 9-for-26 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 20 times.

Yugoslavia's previous world titles came in 1970, 1978 and 1990. Yugoslavia beat Russia for the gold medal in 1998, and only three of those players, none from the NBA, are on the team at this year's tournament.
