TORONTO (AP) -- The Toronto Raptors hired Canadian national team coach Jay Triano and Dick Helm as assistants Monday.

Triano, the NBA's first Canadian coach, and Helm replace Stan Albeck and Jim Brewer on head coach Lenny Wilkens' staff.

Albeck had a stroke in the locker room before a game in December, and will stay at home in San Antonio this year to continue his rehabilitation. Brewer left the Raptors instead of accepting a job as scouting director.

Triano has led Canada's national team for four years.

Helm also worked for Wilkens in Seattle, Cleveland and Atlanta.
