MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers placed guard Quentin Richardson on the injured list Tuesday with a bruised right knee.

Richardson suffered the injury in Friday's loss to the New Jersey Nets and did not play Saturday in Orlando. He is forced to sit out at least five games after missing just seven games in his first two seasons in the NBA.

The 6-6, 236-pound Richardson is averaging 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in five games this season, including two starts. He averaged 13.3 points and 4.1 rebounds with the Clippers last season.

Richardson, 22, was the 18th overall pick by Los Angeles in the 2000 draft out of DePaul. He posted averages of 8.1 points and 3.4 assists as a rookie during the 2000-01 season.

The Clippers activated Tremaine Fowlkes from the injured list to take Richardson's place on the active roster. Fowlkes spent the first five games of the season on the injured list with a sprained right knee.

The 6-8 forward averaged 3.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 22 games as a rookie with Los Angeles last season.
