Wizards-Raptors game postponed due to blizzard

Posted: Sunday February 16, 2003 6:41 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A major snowstorm forced the postponement of Monday's Raptors-Wizards game, depriving Michael Jordan of a chance to play on his 40th birthday.

The game was rescheduled for 7 p.m. on March 4.

The Raptors played at home Sunday afternoon, defeating the Orlando Magic 99-97, and left for the airport immediately afterward. The postponement was announced shortly thereafter by the NBA.

The rescheduling will give the Wizards a stretch of four games in five nights over the first five days of March.

Snow fell Sunday from Missouri to New Jersey, and flakes fell at a rate of up to 4 inches (10 centimeters) an hour in parts of Maryland.

The Washington area's Baltimore-Washington International and Reagan National airports were closed Sunday, while Dulles International Airport had just one runway open during the afternoon.
