Butler, Ginobili honored Posted: Tuesday April 01, 2003 8:00 PMUpdated: Tuesday April 01, 2003 8:00 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Forward Caron Butler of the Miami Heat and guard Emanuel Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs were named NBA Rookies of the Month for March, the league announced Tuesday. Butler, the Eastern Conference winner for the third straight month, is the only rookie to win the award four times this season. He led all rookies with 20.1 points per game and averaged 4.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.88 steals in 16 games. Ginobili won the award for the first time after averaging 10.6 points, 3.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in March. He also led all rookies with 2.38 steals in 16 games. Other candidates for the Eastern and Western Conference awards were Cleveland's Carlos Boozer, Denver's Nene Hilario, Detroit's Mehmet Okur, Houston's Yao Ming, Orlando's Gordan Giricek and Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire. © 2003 SportsTicker Enterprises, LP
