DENVER (AP) -- The Denver Nuggets will sign shooting guard Jon Barry this week, general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said.

Barry, son of Hall of Fame member Rick Barry and brother of two other NBA players, will sign with the Nuggets by the middle of the week, Vandeweghe said Sunday.

Jon Barry, 34, spent the past two seasons with Detroit. In his first 11 seasons in the NBA, he also played for Milwaukee, Golden State, Atlanta, the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento.

Rick Barry, who lives in Colorado Springs, said his son called him during the weekend to say he would be signing a one-year contract with the Nuggets. The deal is believed to be worth more than $2 million, the Rocky Mountain News reported Monday.

Vandeweghe and head coach Jeff Bzdelik have spent the past week looking at free-agent shooting guards. The Nuggets, whose oldest current player is 29, decided they want a veteran, Vandeweghe said.

"He has a lot of playoff experience with Sacramento and Detroit," Vandeweghe said.

Jon Barry averaged 6.9 points for the Pistons last season and compiled a career average of 5.7 points per game. He was 11th in the NBA last season in 3-point percentage at 0.407 and has a career percentage of 0.391.
