Lobo's ACL surgery successful

NEW YORK (AP) -- Rebecca Lobo of the WNBA New York Liberty had successful surgery Thursday to repair the anterior cruciate ligament of her left knee.

Dr. Norman Scott, team physician for the New York Knicks, and Dr. Susan Craig Scott, the Liberty's physician, performed the one-hour operation at Beth Israel Hospital and said they expect Lobo to be fully recovered in time for the 2000 season.

Lobo was injured in the opening minute of the team's first game on June 10 against Cleveland at Madison Square Garden.
