Dunn deal Former Purdue coach hired in SeattlePosted: Sunday July 25, 1999 12:06 PM
SEATTLE (AP) -- Lin Dunn, a veteran women's basketball coach, will lead Seattle's new WNBA team as head coach and general manager, the NBA SuperSonics' parent company has announced. "I'm already thinking about who I want on this team to help us win a championship," Dunn said Thursday of her selection by Full House Sports & Entertainment to lead the city's as-yet-unnamed women's team. She compiled a 296-68 record in nine seasons at Purdue before leaving in 1996. Dunn, 51, also scored with the defunct American Basketball League. She was named ABL Coach of the Year last year after leading the Portland Power from the league basement to the Western Conference regular-season championship. "After watching Lin turn the Power around, I decided that if we had a chance to get her on our side, we had to go for it," said Karen Bryant, Full House senior director of WNBA operations and former general manager of the ABL Seattle Reign.
