Guard Adrienne Goodson is entering her second season with the Utah Starzz. In 1999, she started all but one of Utah's games and averaged 14.9 points. A member of Old Dominion's 1985 national championship team, Goodson also played two years in the American Basketball League where she was named an All-Star each year. I guess I didn't do a very good job at introducing myself on the last entry, so I'll do so now. My name is Adrienne Goodson, and I was born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey where I graduated from Bayonne High School. I studied marketing at Old Dominion University where I was a 1985 NCAA Champion. I graduated with a degree in distributive education, and finally I was inducted into the ODU Hall of Fame in 1999. I'm skipping over a multitude of events and accolades because I'm really excited to get on with last weekend's episodes.

Last weekend was a real big accomplishment and disappointment as well. It was an accomplishment because on our preseason road trip to Seattle and Portland we finished up 1-1, which is good for a road trip. We beat Seattle 70-67 and lost to Portland 84 -74.

Seattle had a tough crowd to play in front of, and the team pressed us full-court for the whole game. It certainly didn't help that Edna Campbell was on fire, and their roster still had 18 people on it. They had fresh legs every two minutes, but we managed to overcome a 12-point deficit in the first half to go on and win the game. Unfortunately, there is no time for rest or complacency because at 9 a.m. we left for the airport to go to Portland and play. Oh! And by the way they moved the game up an hour. Can I get some No-Doz please?

We came out of the box like a herd of racehorses in the first seven minutes to go up 15-1 on Portland. I mean, whoa this felt good, but Portland finally woke up and began to play well to regain the lead before the half. Now here comes the disappointing part. There was 15:50 left in the second half and Jennifer Azzi makes this beautiful drive to the cup and gets hammered (no call by the you know who) and breaks her right hand. The rest is history. Let's go home.

We have another preseason game on Saturday May 20th against Seattle in St. George at 7 p.m. Let's Rock!

Peace,

-- Goodie 15
