The Hot List CNN/Sports Illustrated's Evan Kanew takes a look at who's hot and who's not in the world of boxing. KNOCKOUTS Reyes gloves: These so-called "puncher's mitts" -- Lewis' gloves of choice -- get the nod over Michael Grant's preferred brand for Saturday night's main event.
Related British personal trainers: Who says the English only lift pints? Courtney Shand runs the high-tech exercise programme in Lewis' training camp. His younger brother, Dermott Smith, is in charge of Grant's fitness regime. Lou DiBella: Calling his network's May 13 broadcast of the Roy Jones Jr.-Richard Hall bout "garbage," the top HBO/TVKO boxing executive proved he's got brass ones. He makes good fights when he can. When contracts prevent good matchups, DiBella tells it like it is. "Middle class" boxers: HBO's new televised fight series, KO Nation, starts May 6, providing increased exposure for talented but lesser-known pugs, and -- more importantly -- new network-backed opportunities for a decent payday. BUMS IBF: Boxing's only U.S.-based sanctioning body is on trial in Newark federal court, charged with taking bribes of $338,000 over 13 years in a pay-for-rankings scam. Then again, this is good news. New York's Southern District: The Newark court's Manhattan counterpart blew its chance to do right by the public when it recently ruled against Lennox Lewis in a dispute over the WBA title. Mike Tyson: His European tour seems to have stalled because "Iron" Mike can't seem to iron out the kinks in his arsenal. Saying the former champ needs more time in the gym, Team Tyson has postponed his Milan showcase against Lou Savarese for the second time. Evander Holyfield: With the likelihood of Lewis being stripped of the WBA title and Don King pulling the strings, the valiant three-time champ wants to fight questionable WBA No. 1 contender John Ruiz for that organization's meaningless belt. If Holyfield wins, his handlers will bill him as a four-time champ. It won't, however, be the Real Deal. Roy Jones Jr.: The Boxing Writers of America honor him as fighter of the decade for the 1990s. But bouts like his upcoming mismatch against Richard Hall don't do much for his chances to repeat in the '00s.
