NEW YORK (AP) -- The third fight between WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz and former champion Evander Holyfield, once set for China, now appears headed for Connecticut.

"The fight will be held Dec. 15 on HBO," Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports, said Wednesday. "[Promoter] Don King is finalizing the site."

Foxwoods Resort Casino appears to be the site. Allen Hopper, a King spokesman, said the promoter was awaiting a paper from the casino to finalize arrangements.

The fight originally was scheduled for Beijing on Aug. 5, but was called off when Ruiz injured his neck. It was rescheduled for Nov. 24 in Beijing, but HBO, which paid $5 million for broadcast rights, said in the wake of terrorist attack Sept. 11 it would not send a crew to China.

Ruiz and Holyfield fought for the vacant WBC title Aug. 12, 2000, at Las Vegas, and Holyfield won a disputed decision. In the rematch, Ruiz knocked Holyfield down in the 11th round and became champion on a unanimous decision March 3, also at Las Vegas.
