NEW YORK (AP) -- Connecticut took over No. 1 in The Associated Press women's basketball poll after routing Stanford over the weekend.

Coach Geno Auriemma's team had 37 first-place votes Monday, while second-ranked Baylor got the other three. The Huskies last held the top spot at the end of the 2010-11 season.

Duke moved up to third while Stanford, which held the top place for six weeks after beating Baylor, fell to fourth. Notre Dame was fifth. The Huskies, who beat Stanford 61-35 on Saturday to end the Cardinal's 82-game home winning streak, will host the Irish on Saturday.

Notre Dame is followed by Kentucky, California, Maryland, Penn State and Georgia. The Lady Bulldogs dropped four places after losing their first game of the season to Illinois.

Dayton dropped seven spots to No. 22 after losing its first game to Bowling Green.

Nebraska entered the poll at No. 25 as Texas fell out.
