GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Mississippi State has suspended guard Jalen Steele indefinitely for violating team rules.

Steele, a junior averaging 9.5 points a game, won't play Saturday at No. 2 Florida.

Coach Rick Ray announced the suspension about three hours before the game, saying Steele didn't make the trip to Gainesville. Steele, a Knoxville, Tenn., native, has appeared in 13 games with 11 starts this season. He missed eight games after breaking his wrist against Florida Atlantic.

The team says no further comment will be made.
