India edges England in thrilling finish

MANCHESTER, England (AP) -- India scored the winning run with just four balls remaining and one wicket left to beat England in the first one-day women's international at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

In a knife-edge finish to the game, England gave away four four leg byes as India, chasing 128 off 50 overs, reached 132 for nine.

Lefthander Anjum Chopra starred for India with an innings of 52, coming to the crease with the team struggling on 12 for two in the 13th over while England's Clare Taylor took three for 12 off 12 overs.

The second one-day game is Northampton on Friday and the third is at Trent Bridge on Sunday.
