KANDY, Sri Lanka (AP) -- Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie, who suffered a fractured shin in a collision with captain Steve Waugh, will be replaced by Scot Muller for the remaining two test matches.

The 28-year-old Queenslander is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka in the next few days.

Gillespie was injured after he collided with Waugh on Friday while trying to take a catch at square leg in the first cricket test against Sri Lanka. He is expected to return home next week.

Waugh fractured his nose. Waugh and Gillespie underwent surgery Friday and were in stable condition, said a doctor at a private hospital in Colombo, the Sri Lankan capital.

Waugh has been advised rest for a week. "He is all right now, but he suffered from a fairly large injury extending to his nasal cavity, leading to multiple fractures on his nasal bone" said Dr. Asoka Jayasena.

"It took us nearly two hours to complete the operation," Jayasena said. Waugh's nose was also disfigured after his collision with Gillespie.

"We will review his condition in about a week's time and then decide whether he should resume playing," said Errol Alcott, the Australian team trainer.
