LONDON (Reuters) -- Holders Gloucestershire won their fourth successive Lord's one-day final in a rain-ruined NatWest Trophy game against Warwickshire on Sunday.

Gloucestershire, the first county to retain the trophy, were awarded victory by 22 runs after a thunderstorm brought play to a halt with the favorites needing 84 for victory.

After Saturday's wash out, Warwickshire made a disappointing 205 for seven in their 50 overs despite Ashley Giles celebrating his call-up by England for the fifth test against West Indies with a pugnacious 60.

Medium pacer Michael Smith bowled superbly to take three for 18 in his 10 overs.

South African paceman Allan Donald took two wickets as Gloucestershire, who won the toss, reached 122 for three off 29.4 overs. Number three Ian Harvey made 47 and his departure was the last action before the rain fell.

It was the second time Gloucestershire had retained a trophy this season after they beat Glamorgan in the Benson and Hedges Cup final in June.

They needed luck to survive the NatWest third round. Beaten by three wickets by Worcestershire, Gloucestershire were awarded a replay when it was discovered Worcestershire had fielded an ineligible player. The holders won the replay by five wickets.

Lancashire won the Gillette Cup, the precursor of the NatWest Trophy, for a record third successive year in 1972.
