In contention Marsh and Roberts lead running to fill Dev vacancy
BOMBAY (Reuters) -- Former Australian coach Geoff Marsh and former West Indian fast bowler Andy Roberts are among four candidates to succeed Kapil Dev as India's coach, a senior Indian cricket official said on Tuesday. The two other candidates are former New Zealand opening batsman John Wright and Dean Jones, the former Australian middle-order batsman, Jaywant Lele, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said. "We will decide by the end of this month," Lele told Reuters by telephone from Baroda in the western state of Gujarat. Lele said A.C. Muthiah, president of the BCCI, would have the final word on selecting the new coach. Kapil Dev resigned as India's coach last month in the wake of investigations into match fixing allegations. Anshuman Gaekwad was appointed interim coach. He is with the Indian team playing in the ICC Trophy in Nairobi.
