Saturday August 1 - Montceau-Les-Mines and Le Creusot are the last of the new venues on a day that could be crucial. A 52-km (32 miles) time trial will be raced between the reclaimed mining area, where 300-million-year-old fossils have been discovered, and the industrialised Le Creusot.

The most recent city of the Saone-and-Loire department, Montceau-the-Mines was founded in 1856. The rise of the city was due in part by the canal of the "Center" which went into service in 1793. Connecting the Saone to the Loire, offering leisure tourism to visitors and locals. The port of Montceau-the-Mines is the most important port on the canal.


  Le Creusot (Societe du Tour de France)

In the heart of the city of Creusot, the castle of the Verrerie overlooks the town. A Crystal factory in 1787 for queen Marie-Antoinette , crystal manufacturer of Creusot in 1792, then the residence of the Schneider brothers, well known ironmasters in 1837, the castle of the Verrerie today houses the museum of man and industry of Creusot-Montceau.
