Pantani captured the yellow jersey from Ullrich with a victory in the 15th stage AP

LES DEUX ALPES, France (CNN/SI) -- Marco "Il Pirata" (The Pirate) Pantani of Italy won the 15th stage of the Tour de France on Monday.

Pantani who rides for the Marcatone Uno team won the 189-kilometer (117-mile) stage from Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes.

Pantani's first-place finish in Sunday's stage was enough for him to take the yellow jersey from defending champion Jan Ullrich of Germany.
