Telekom's Ullrich captured the 16th stage ending in Albertville AP

ALBERTVILLE, France (CNN/SI) -- Last year's winner of the Tour de France, Jan Ullrich of Germany, won the 16th stage of the tour.

Tuesday's stage traveled 204 kilometers (126 miles) through the Alps from Vizille to Albertville.

Ullrich rides for the Telekom team.

However, Italy's Marco Pantani, who took the yellow jersey from Ullrich with an astonishing ride in Monday's stage, retained the over all lead and the yellow jersey.
