LAUSANNE, Switzerland (CNN/SI) -- Three of the Festina cyclists who were expelled from this year's Tour de France will return to competitive cycling on Tuesday.

Laurent Dufaux, Armin Meier and Alex Zuelle all of Switzerland will compete in the A Travers Lausanne, a two-stage time trial around the home of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Tour winner Marco Pantani of Italy and third-placed Bobby Julich of the United States are also scheduled to compete.

The three Swiss are free to race because the governing International Cycling Union (UCI) has said that any disciplinary action must be taken by their national body, the Swiss Cycling Federation (FCS).

The FCS has said it is waiting for direction from the UCI.

"These cases cannot leave us indifferent," said Remo von Daeniken, FCS anti-doping commission president. "The time that it will take the UCI to answer doesn't matter. We will have accomplished our duty."
