![]() The foot of the Alpe d'Huez, Bourg d'Oisans is the tourist center of the Isère region and the Alpine mineralogy capital. Its crystal convention each summer attracts hoards of visitors. In addition, its off-road automobile track is earning a growing reputation. A long-time capital of cycling, Saint-Etienne is the highest city in France. Surrounded by the Pilat Massif and the Forez climbs, the city is situated at 520 meters altitude. As a result of the Industrial Revolution, Saint-Etienne grew tremendously at the end of the 19th century, and since then, the city has diversified with numerous economic, cultural and sports activities.
