![]() Saint-Gaudens, first gained notoriety in the Middle Ages thanks to its drapery and linen industry. A familiar stopping point for the Tour de France, Swiss champion Ferdi Kubler is one rider who is never likely to forget it, since it was in this Mountain town where he definitively took over the yellow jersey in the 1950 Tour after the withdraw of Gino Bartoli. Created in 1975, Piau-Engaly has become one of the three most-reputed resorts in the Pyrenees due to its futurist architecture which vigorously incorporates more traditional buildings. A hot-spot for ski fans, Piau-Engaly is known as the "Avoriaz of the Pyrenees," as well as being one of the windows to Spain. Climbs:
