(Societe du Tour de France) |
Perched at 1,326 meters Briançon is France's highest city. The sun is said to shine 300 days a year in Briançon. In partnership with Serre-Chevalier, 250 kilometers of ski slopes are on offer.
Ever a cycling town, Briançon this year alone will play host to the Giro, Dauphiné Libéré and Tour de France.
Located at the heart of the Three Valleys Skiing Domain (the world's largest with 200 ski lifts and over 600 kilometers of slopes), the ski resort of Courchevel became an Olympic sight in 1992 when it held the ski jump competitions.
Hosting the Tour is only one of the many sporting events to take place in the resort, including world cup skiing races each winter.
Climbs:
Km 33 - Galibier Pass : 22.1 km climb at 5.3 % - Highest Level
Km 110.5 - Madeleine Pass : 19.3 km climb at 8 % - Highest Level
Km 173.5 - Arrival at Courchevel : 22.2 km climb at 6.2 % - Level 1
