Stage 9 description:

Agen  Dax
(Societe du Tour de France) (Societe du Tour de France)

Located halfway between Bordeaux and Toulouse, Agen first hosted the Tour in 1951. The town was the starting point of a stage in 1980 and 1996.

Lying close both to the Atlantic Ocean and to the Pyrenées, this southern town is France's foremost thermal spa, drawing more than 50,000 visitors a year. Dax is also prized for its cuisine (foie gras) and bullfights: 60,000 aficionados flock here during the August feria and the September Toros y Salsa festival.

Sporting facilities abound in the Dax area, and the local rugby club has provided through the years some of France's star players.

Climbs:
Km 143 - Côte of Montaut : 1.7 km climb at 4.1 % - Level 4
