PARIS (AP) -- Tour de France organizers on Friday banned the Italian team Vini Caldirola from this year's competition following the expulsion of the team's leader from the Tour de Suisse on suspicion of having used banned substances.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the TVM team said lawyers are meeting over the Tour ban placed on that team.

The Dutch team was excluded on Wednesday from the competition along with several individual riders.

France-Info radio reported that TVM plans to file a court complaint against Tour organizers.

However, team spokesman Guido van Calster said that "it is not that far yet."

"I don't think a court case is the solution, but everyone has the right to think about it. We hope it won't go that far and that we can resolve this at the negotiating table," the spokesman added.
