KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- Paolo Bettini of Italy's Mapei Quickstep team won the third stage of the Tour de Langkawi cycling race Wednesday.

Bettini, ranked 10th in the world, beat Alexandre Usov of the Phonak team and Ivan Quaranta of Italy's Alexia Alluminio in a sprint to the finish line.

All three completed the 110-mile leg along a flat, coastal route in east Malaysia in 4 hours, 13 minutes, 4 seconds.

Jan Koerts of U.S. team Mercury Viatel has the overall lead.

"Today, we didn't do too much work," he said. "I think everybody was tired."

Friday's fourth stage covers 84 miles.
